The Storr is the highest point on the Trotternish ridge, which runs north from Portree for over 30 kilometres. The impressive east facing escarpment which falls from its summit has a collection of spectacular pinnacles at its base, easily reached from the road. The Old Man is the tallest pinnacle. The picture was taken from The Sanctuary at the base of the cliffs, looking east over the islands of Raasay and Rona to the mainland hills of Applecross (on the left) and the cloud-covered Cuillin (on the right). |
