Baosbheinn is a quiet gem. On a July day when they were queueing up on Liathach, I met only two other people all day, both of these on Beinn an Eoin before starting on Baosbheinn. The picture was taken on the north ridge looking back to the summit. On the left is Coire Mhic Fhearchair of Beinn Eighe and right of centre is Beinn Alligin.

Below to the right is Loch a'Bhealaich in Shieldaig Forest which has only recently (May 2004) been saved from being dammed as part of a wholly inappropriate hydro-electric development. This would have been a shameful example of exploitation for financial gain by a handful of people against the interests of the great majority. On this occasion however there was a significant protest campaign and the Scottish Executive, showing some admirably objective thinking, turned down the proposal. Full marks to the Executive, none at all to the Highland Council whose Councillors, in supporting the proposal against the advice of their own planning officials, once again showed that they have no pride whatsoever in their greatest natural asset, their land, and see it simply as something to be exploited for imaginary short term, high profile, gain.
