An Teallach is one of the finest mountains on the mainland. In summer, if the ridge is taken direct, it's a highly entertaining scramble over Corrag Bhuidhe Buttress and the pinnacles of Corrag Bhuidhe to Sgurr Fiona. In winter this becomes a piece of serious mountaineering.

The picture was taken from Sail Liath, the first summit when going clockwise around the ridge. Snow conditions on the day were difficult, and it was clear that there was a fairly high avalanche risk. We had started too late in the day to complete the whole ridge and turned back after the next top (Stob Cadha Ghobhlach, on the left in the picture), not reaching the head of Coire Hallie until well after sunset. This, however, is a hill well worth getting up early for.
