Mam Sodhail and Carn Eige are the highest summits north of the Great Glen. Mullach Cadha Raineach, from where the picture was taken, is midway along the ridge leading to Mam Sodhail from Sgurr na Lapaich, which is the most prominent peak seen from Loch Affric to the south and east. The ridges are mostly grassy and, although quite narrow in places, are easy and give excellent walking.

This was my second visit to these hills within a couple of weeks, having been blasted off them the first time by a ferocious gale and clouds of spindrift on an otherwise clear and sunny day. It was something of a surprise to find so much snow left on the ridges, as it had seemed it would all be blown off into the Firth.
