Ben Lawers is the highest mountain in the southern Highlands and the central point on a 12km long ridge connecting seven Munros. If you're feeling particularly tough you can climb all seven in a day, although most people split the ridge up into two or more days. I had left Glen Lyon the previous night and camped on the ridge just to the north of Meall Garbh. The picture was taken on the summit of Meall Garbh shorthly after sunrise. The ridge's Munros of Ben Lawers, Beinn Ghlas, An Stuc and Meall Corranaich can all be seen, with Stob Binnein and Ben More in the distance on the right. Below, an early morning inversion layer covers Loch Tay. This soon broke up and dispersed in the heat of the day. |
