Taken about an hour after sunrise on the same day as the picture of Carn Mor Dearg and Ben Nevis in the 2004 calendar. The viewpoint is just beyond the summit of Carn Mor Dearg, with the arete curving away to the south west where it meets the slopes of Ben Nevis. Just visible through the inversion are Binnein Mor (to the left), Sgurr a'Mhaim and Stob Ban (to the right) on the Mamore ridge. Away to the south are Bidean nam Bian and Ben Cruachan. As the day went on the cloud slowly burnt away southwards, although it didn't seem to clear beyond the Crianlarich hills. Conditions like this don't come very often and you have to consider yourself very fortunate indeed to catch them. |
