Taken from the summit of Sgurr a'Mhadaidh at sunrise, looking south. Sgurr Dubh Mor is on the left, with the Dubh Ridge seen in profile dropping left to Coir'-uisg. Sgurr Thearlaich, Sgurr Alasdair and Sgurr Sgumain are in the centre, with the Inaccessible Pinnacle and the two tops of Sgurr a'Ghreadaidh on the right. Sgurr a'Mhadaidh is a straight forward ascent from Glen Brittle, following a recently reconstructed path into Coire a'Ghreadaidh, then up to the narrow pass of An Dorus before an easy scramble up to the summit. A full moon in a cloudless sky had made torchlight unnecessary on the way up, and I reached An Dorus minutes before the sun appeared over the horizon. There was a strong crosswind on the ridge, which made taking the picture something of a trial as it needed a lengthy exposure of 1 second. |
