Cir Mhor is a superb mountain, standing at the heart of the Arran hills and giving great views of all of them. The picture was taken from the north end of the a'Chir ridge, and shows the Rosa Pinnacle and its neighbouring ridges falling from the summmit into Fionn Choire. In the background above Glen Rosa is the eastern group of hills, from Mullach Buidhe on the left, over North Goatfell, to Goatfell. I had gone up the previous afternoon, climbing Suidhe Fhearghas from North Glen Sannox on a badly eroded path, crossing Ceum na Caillich and putting the tent up just east of Caisteal Abhail. Dawn came with too much cloud to be a spectacle, but this gradually burnt away and had disappeared by the time I started on a'Chir. |
