Early December doesn't often bring conditions like this on the Cuillin, and a cloudless sky with bitingly sharp visibility (and a bitingly cold wind) made this an wonderful experience. I reached Sgurr Alasdair over Sgurr Sgumain, and went on to Sgurr Thearlaich and back again to Sgurr Alasdair for the sunset before reluctantly going down, not reaching Glen Brittle again until after dark. A vivid afterglow behind Rum lit the initial descent from Coire Lagan.

The picture was taken from the slopes of Sgurr Alasdair above the top of the Great Stone Chute. Sgurr Dubh an Da Bheinn is in the centre, with the ridge to Sgurr Dubh Mor going off to the left. To the right of these are Gars-bheinn, the southernmost peak on the ridge, and Sgurr nan Eag. The panorama of hills in the background stretches from Kintail in the north to Ben Cruachan in the south, with the hills of Mull on the far right.
